So it's still looking like dodgy memory then?  Either that or possibly some code corruption on that hard drive partition?  Interesting. 

What kind of memory does the IIgs take?  I have a 4 MB card, but I don't recall what kind it is off the top of my head.  I want to say it's a Q-RAM.
