Count me amongst the enthusiastic owners of the CFFA3000 card.  I have one in a ROM1 IIGS, another in an enhanced IIe, and an original CFFA card in a ROM3 IIGS.  The CFFA3000 is the best expansion card I've ever run across for the older Apples, and I'm planning on picking up another on from Rich's next run to replace that original CFFA card with.  I don't think you can go wrong with the CFFA3000, and I'd take it over a Microdrive card or any similar card in a heartbeat.
