And self-agrandization...

For several decades until your memory starts to fail. Oh sure, when you're
in your 30's and you can hold 20,000 lines of code in your head, and you
don't need to sleep, you walk on water. Then the galoshes start to leak.

Eventually you're up to your knees, then everything below the waist gets
soggy, and after a couple more decades, when 5000 lines is an effort and
your idea of having a fun weekend is cracking a DOS 3.3 copy protection
scheme that was used in 1982 and then you come-up for air to pour another
brandy, and your wife points-out that Spring is here and the patio needs to
be spray washed...

Well, you've heard the term all washed-up:) And just when you feel like
you're going down for the third, or final time...

Supper's ready, or so I'm told... gotta take off the galoshes and do what
passes for running these days, and maybe I can sneak some time tomorrow
before work to install FreeDOS on VirtualBOX and yet another Apple II Aztec
C Compiler from 1982 that's almost ready for prime-time in Windows 7 and
anywhere else that VirtualBOX can run.
