Aaaaand I spoke too soon.  The ADU still won't see the drive.  When I was switching disks to load the ADU the launcher detected the drive and asked if I wanted to initialize it and I said yes.  Unfortunately that gave me an error a short time later.  Looks like I'm back to square one.
