Yeah, I agree. You have to keep nibbles in mind all the way through: first, you enable it on the config page. Then you give the name, whatever.nib. Then, you pick (hopefully) a Disk II device. Then... you say you want to send Nibbles, not Standard. I never had a reasonable way to work it into the interface as-is, so I avoided it for years. My compromise was to enable but hide it. I expect very few people will really need it, but those that do might put up with some funniness as opposed to going the SST route.
Why am I asked for a Standard or Nibble copy if "read nibbles" if set to "yes" on the config page?
The "Yes" on the config page means you will be presented with the option (if you pick a Disk II device to transfer). If you leave it to "No," everything works like it did before.
Tried with a normalized EDD 4.9 disk image and that works well. I still believe that (as stated previously) it will help for few disks only. I would like this: http://www.brutaldeluxe.fr/projects/edd/
That's where these conversations always start and end... we need some hardware support to really get the job done.
