I had a formatter that would go beyond 35 tracks.  My DuoDisk was good for
38 tracks, so that was another 12K on each side of the disk.  IIRC, ProDOS
didn't need any modification for this trick to work; you just needed drives
that could move the heads out however far you went.

I think I found this written up in Nibble, if you want to go looking for it.
All of my Apple II stuff is packed away right now, so I can't check.
