I saved the DOS info to my hard drive and need to read it better and work in Applesoft BASIC before using cc65 C or assembler. Unfortunately, it doesn't contain assembler programming info for DOS 3.3. It also contains an overview of the RAM. The RAM information was helpful but not for actual programming. Maybe I should start with Applesoft BASIC or basic cc65 C first.
I'm going to stop you there. Programming RAM expansion is virtually
non-existent in the Apple world.. It is rarely used for more than as a
RAM drive for data storage. It would not be worth your while to learn
it, or for us to guide you how. Especially with only dial-up at your
disposal. Almost all good reading material is in .pdf format and
requires a lot of down loading.
Prodos has a driver built into it to use RAM expansion as a RAM
drive. It would be more worth your while to learn the Prodos
directory structure and write simple basic programs. All the reserved
words that are necessary for applesoft programming are included and
require no knowledge of the graphics screen, its layout or its
location within memory. For instance, HGR and HGR2 automatically set
the all drawing commands to plot on the correct screen.
