As soon as I open the application, it crashes my machine (freezes
it). It also crashes on Kegs emulator. Anyone have any luck running
it and if so, what's the secret. I have Marinetti running.

Yes, I have run both PR1 and PR3, but only on real hardware- a ROM 3 IIgs
with 2 MB RAM and no accelerator.

I recommend PR3, since it removes the requirement for an HTTP proxy.

I'm using PR3, directly from http://members.optusnet.com.au/appleiigs/arachnid.html

The fact it happens immediately at start up every time (in both
emulation and on a real machine) indicates it's the program, but maybe
it's a coincidence. I wonder if there's a difference between this PR3
and the one previous sold by Syndicomm.

I pulled all the pieces down, and loaded it up on GSport. It's able to connect to the outside world; http://hobbes.nmsu.edu was the first page I could find it would render. I needed to:

0. Plug the Windows latptop in with a wire, not wireless
1. Pick the correct adapter number in GSport:
   http://gsport.sourceforge.net/ethernet.html
2. Have Marinetti find an IP address with DHCP
3. Remove the original Arachnid.prefs file that came with the distro
4. Create a Cache folder at the same level as Arachnid
5. Fire it up - see what connects!
