But they're not in the Giganews overview (XOVER) and can't be accessed by
article number (195721 and 195723) either.

My guess: because Google groups decided to encode the article body in
base64, his two articles got flagged as "binary in a text group" and thus
were discarded by a certain number of servers.

That's my best explanation.

Anyway... back to business as usual.
