Re: Telnet BBS cable?

I used to have The BoycoT BBS up and running...but there simply was not enough interest to justify the time & effort to keep it running. It had quite a few callers when I first announced it, but these were all one-time lookey-loos.

A picture of it is here: http://boycot.no-ip.com:6502/BoycoTBBS/BoycoTSetup.htm

I had it online using the "Internet Modem" program I wrote here: http://boycot.no-ip.com:6502/InternetModem/

Later, I used an "Ethernet Modem" to connect it. The page on that is here: http://boycot.no-ip.com:6502/BoycoTBBS/moxa.htm

That's what I plan to do -- I have a null modem cable running to a
virtual
machine through a serial to USB adapter. The problem is that the
communication is only one way at the moment. Commands can be sent to
the
Apple II but nothing comes back through the cable out to telnet.

I was able to get a telnet connection as you describes above using KEGS
or
maybe it was XGS. It wasn't completely reliable but it did let me log
into
my AppleNet BBS for the first time in 20 years :). I'd really like to
run
this "new" one on actual hardware.

Let us know if you get it up and running! There used to be a retro
Apple BBS, but afaik it's down.

Age of Reason is still up. I "dialed in" a week or two ago.

it's aor.retroarchive.org
