Using a ROM card for this means that you can leave the motherboard ROM
alone (running Applesoft and an autostart monitor) and avoid any
compatiblity issues. The ROM card can be used to reset into the old
monitor ROM on the rare occasions you need to do this, and it avoids
having to change ROMs on the motherboard.
In addition, using EPROMs is difficult on an Apple II+ motherboard, but
much easier on the ROM card.
