Better check how it is used in the circuit.  Both of the above ICs are
tri-state output, not open collector, like the 7407.  And the 7407 will
switch outputs as high as 30 volts, which is definitely not garden variety.

The 7417 (also rare) will handle up to 15 volts--maybe not enough for
the application.
