Painting is a bad idea if you are trying to restore your IIe because the
plastic was never painted it is a dye when the plastic is molded.
Orange cleaner helps, but the sun and smoke creates irreversible damage.
This is why silver trash-80's fade in the palm area. They painted the
plastic.
