Re: GBBS .. is it freeware/shareware or commercial?
you can run gbbs/metal fv or tpro bbs or whatever proline on the net...what
you need is
a web site bbs pkg like worldgroup, mac bbs, synchronet (supported freeware)
that runs on mac or ibm beast as a front end bbs...then there are door
programs *also usually free* or in the case of worldgroup also has an
internal module that does this..and viola you log on to the bbs pkg (mac,
msdos whatever) and via a door program go via phone and/or serial connection
to the apple ii machine (recently rescued from a door stop) and bingo bango
your getting in from the net
www.synchro.net is freeware pkg that is supported runs on a win32/ machine
under 95/98/me/etc....and takes prob a big 1/2 hr to install has built in
telnet etc...pop a cable to the apple // and your users can rush (one at a
time) to your historical bbs
i hope to (again) try to have my 2 bbs doors up by the end of the
month....fv/metal 4.0xev ( a gbbs evolution freeware) and tpro 4.2f modified
RPG BBS also up on a 2nd gs again
anyway...all this has been done to death i just have to get my systems back
up from the www site again
(takes some elec re-wire for power gets to be a few puter's w/the apple
//'s)
check out my site
it is free instant aceess and game site
