The card should be installed the card in slot 3. Most programs that use an
80
column card will look for it there.
If your card has only the one female video connector then what's going to
happen is when a program is in 80 column mode it'll send the video output
to slot 3 and the built-in video will seem to freeze. So you'll have to
switch
your moniror cable to the connector on the 80 column card. This kind of
card is a pain if you're using a number of programs that switch back and
forth between 40 & 80 columns. When I used this kind of card I had an
RCA AB switch instead od manually switching connections.
If your card has a male connector at the end of that wire and a female on
the card. Place the card in slot 3 then plug the male connector into the II+
video out and the monitor cable into the card. This card should
automatically
handle changes from 40 to 80 column and back.
If you want to manually shift video output to the card.(change to 80
columns)
Turn on your II+. Hold down the control key and press the reset key to get
the applesoft prompt. Then type PR#3 and press return. With the first card
you'll have to change the monitor cable from the II+ to the card.
Most programs will switch bach to 40 columns if that's what they're supposed
to be in.
