There isn't a lot in the way of internet type networking for the //e. Most of it is for the GS. There ARE networks available though.
In terms of what to look for I'd suggest taking a look at some of the previous threads for a series of articles posted by Bart called "The network from heck". There are also other threads but this one comes to mind. You may also want to take a look at the FAQs for this group. They are posted about once per month. They are also on the web somewhere.
More likely than not, your best solution for your specific needs would be to connect to a *NIX box via a null modem cable into a shell account. From there the *NIX box would connect to the net.
