A floppy can also be recreated from the .dsk image directly using DSK2FILE
among others.

you're missing 2 steps:

1) convert the .dsk image into something readable by the Apple II (eg:
a Copy ][+ .img file)

2) on the II side, re-create the original physical floppy from the
.img file.
