Huh?  Are you sure you are talking about the IIGS?  I have had no
problems with any of the PC spearkers I've plugged into the IIGS.
The fit seems just as tight on the IIGS as on the PC.

Every single instance on the IIGS, sound came out both speakers
crystal clear.

The symptoms you describe sound more like what happens to my
walkmans.  I gone through several of them because over time, the
stereo jack becomes worn and the connection becomes loose.  If
you bought your IIGS used (say from a school) you may have got
one with a worn jack.  My IIGS was new from Apple so I never had
the problem.

Original IIGS owner (a dying breed).  ;-)
