Some game consoles are an economical choice and the newer ones might
drop to a better price but I've seen PCs that are as good as, if not
better then, the X-Box for the same price as the X-Box.

But if you upgrade your PC to play the new games, your older software
will often benefit as well, not to mention that you can then get new
software that does what some of your older stuff does but with more
features.

However, if you buy a console to play the new games, your older
software gets no benefit and you would still have to upgrade your
machine to be able to use the more feature rich versions of stuff.

So you're saying that there is less software available for the
consoles than the PCs.  That, to me, is another reason NOT to use a
console.

Very true.

The consoles definitely work well with kids as you just have to put in
a disk/cartridge and start it up and the game is running.  No worrying
about the kids accidentally deleting important files or going to
inappropriate web sites.  :)
