Uh, the SCSI ID has _nothing_ to do with the slot...

Generally, the SCSI card should be installed in slot 7, because you want
it to be the boot device (this is a //e, remember, so no "boot slot" choice).

A 5.25" floppy controller should virtually _always_ be in slot 6, because
some software won't work if it isn't.

The only verboten SCSI ID for a disk is 7, because that's the ID of the
Apple SCSI cards, and every device on a SCSI bus must have a unique
ID.
