Marcus,

No you can't. You must use a 3 1/2" Unidisk in order to run a 3 1/2" onthe IIC. There is special hardware in the Unidisk controller to slowthe data transfer down so the IIC can keep up. I'm not an apple expert,but I just happen to be lucky enough to own a unidisk 3 1/2". Thosethings go for a good buck on Ebay. I guess there aren't a whole lot ofthem around? Good luck.
