I use "unforkit" to make Mac-infected files openable by Shrinkit
and other programs.  It is freeware and pretty widely available.

BTW, I put adding a fork to a flat file in a different category from
"file types", like TEXT or BIN.  (I realize that Mac designers think
that adding forks to files improves functionality, but there are
clearly other ways of achieving much of that functionality, and
modifying files just in the process of copying them violates one
of Robots Rules of Order. ;-)
