Rewiring one isn't all that hard but it does take a while. I used a
IIgs keyboard and the wiring diagram from the "IIe Technical
reference". The only difficulty I had was that I didn't know what
to do with the "clear" key on the IIgs keyboard. Irked me until I
burned a modified keyboard ROM so it'd give the correct result.
I've never actually used the clear key other than testing but that's
beside the point.
Practically speaking, your IIe keyboard will work just fine without
a case on your desk top. Best to do the other work first before worrying
about the esthetics.
