Make sure you read David Empson's post as he has posted a lot of good
info.
The only thing that I see missing from David's post is mentioning
termination power. If the hard drive you are connecting to the IIgs
is not supplying termination power then it is possible the IIgs won't
be able to see the hard drive. The Apple SCSI cards do not supply
termination power unless you modify them.
There are a couple things you could try to get the IIgs to see the
hard drive. First, try removing the terminator. If the hard drive is
the only drive on the SCSI chain, it doesn't really need to be
terminated and with no termination power on the chain it is possible
that the terminator is killing the signal from the IIgs to the hard
drive enough to make it not work.
Second, check to see if there is some way to make the hard drive
supply termination power and leave the termintor on.
Third, add another drive to the SCSI chain that does supply
termination power.
I hope you can get it up and running as using a hard drive on a IIgs
makes it a totally different experience than just using floppies.
