I just received the new CFFA card and have been testing one in an apple //e
and another in an Apple IIgs.
All I can say is WOW it is simply INCREDIBLE! I was able to use it with a
32mb compact flash card on the //e and installed a couple of old games from
yesteryear - Jungle Hunt and Ms. Pacman. I couldn't believe it, everything
worked like a charm and booted off the computer without the whirr and click
of the disk ][ drive. The CFFA card is a brilliant design and has a great
finished polish to it. I ended up playing Jungle Hunt for a several minutes
and then tried Ms. Pacman once I got that started the kids in the other room
heard it and came running in. I soon had to leave and let them play with
the Apple //e. I am just amazed that a machine that is 30 years old gets so
much usage and with this new card it will get even more. Just need a little
more time to get the great Apple II software installed on this card.
I didn't have much time to look at the IIgs, but I did install the CFFA card
on a stock IIgs Rom 01, but was unsuccesful to get it running right away. I
just didn't have the time to play with it fully, it has a 192mg compact
flash card setup for it. Tomorrow I hope to get it up and running.
Has anyone used the usb on this card with a usb extender cable? If possible
I would like to use a usb extender that would basically be outside the IIgs
or //e and when I need to transfer files I wouldn't have to open up the IIgs
or //e to get the compact flash card, I would just copy it from a usb stick
to the compact flash card inside the machine. Hope this is doable without
ruining the card.
Thank-you for your time,
Sam
