A Cayman Gatorbox was/is an Appletalk router between localtalk networks and 
ethernet networks.
The common usage nowadays is to allow older locltalk only computers access 
file servers and other devices on ethernet.  
The original metal Gatorbox needs its software to be reloaded every power 
up.
The plastic Gatorbox CS, or rackmount model had enough non-volitile RAM to 
keep the software after configuration.
