Do you have your IIgs networked to anything? If not then you don't need
AppleTalk turned on.
What happens is when you set slot 7 to AppleTalk and slot 1 to your card
then AppleTalk uses the printer port for the AppleTalk network. Turning it
to your card is just to free up that port for the AppleTalk network.However
slot 1 can now use any card since the slot is now turned on.
Same goes for slot 2 except of course AppleTalk is using the printer port

You'll be able to use your SCSI card in any slot that's set to your card.
