Except there isn't a drive (that I know of ^^) with embedded SASI
controller. What's more likely is that the drive mechanism (probably an MFM
drive) is from a Sider, and has been recycled by hanging off an Adaptec
AC-4000/A. But of course, I am just guessing out here... ^^ It is also
possible that some Siders may have been shipped with Adaptec controllers
instead of Xebec controllers (this is strictly speculation;) Adaptec
controllers has provisions (i.e. jumper pads that can be cut) to emulate a
SASI controller.
