Deathlord

Game was made about 1987 by Electronic Arts. It was a blatant Ultima
rip-off. I bought it years ago, but never got the chance to play it
seriously. Well...now I am wanting my fix of old-school RPG. There are two
version floating around...one is completely in .DSK format. It's
bad...doesn't capture all the copy protection. No problem...there is a
newer release of this by Saltine. The boot disk is in .DSK format with the
two scenario disks in .NIB format. Game works flawlessly...until you buy a
ship and are able to leave the main island. It then prompts you for the
boot disk when you get...oh...I dunno...about 20 squares or so away from the
mainland. You put the boot disk back in and no matter what you do...it's
locked up. Looks like the boot disk was just as heavily copy protected as
the scenario disks. You don't see this until after hours and hours of game
play (buying a ship costs a lot of cash in game)...so missing this is
understandable when you're cracking the game. I guess the actual question
here is...is there any way to contact Saltine and see if a version of this
game with a nibbled boot disk could be distributed. This was running on
Applewin. I tried using Oasis, but it doesn't even get to the point where
it asks you to insert the scenario disks.
