They call it the Bargain shop here. It is a real pain to sift through all
of the piles and piles of stuff. What pisses me off is that the machines
come in with all parts and they get shoved in the piles. Parts come
up missing or if they are there long enough, they get busted as the
bargain shoppers toss them around in search of their baubles. However,
I have found a Woz Limited, a Apple HS SCSI card and other
assorted systems in these piles. Today, I found a Mac IIci with
a cache card and 32 meg of RAM and a Mac IIx with a video
card and a Hi Res monitor in original boxes. The IIci had a 730
meg HD in it which I moved to my Performa 575. It is like twice
as fast as the stock Apple drive that came with my computer. It
is a Quantum Lightening drive. I have also found two external
SCSI drives in the mix too plus a few SCSI cables. However,
I like Salvation Army's bargain shop best because they put the
stuff on shelves and there is less breakage than the Goodwill
store. The regualar Goodwill/Salvation Army dumps most of
the older systems and so they never make it to the shelves.
They have large dumpsters they dump the stuff to that are
in a locked fenced in area so you can't go there after the
store closes to rescue things. :-(
