We need smarter computers on the one hand, because the interface isn't
the major obstacle to using a
computer any more, but the fact that what it does is often so limited
and/or stupid.


On the other hand we need cheaper computers for the masses (the REAL
masses, not the few Western-world rich kids like us).


I'm still waiting for the $ 99 simple computer (kinda like the Tandy
100), powered by wind-up like the Freeplay wind-up radio, with (open
source - license-free) OS & apps in ROM, a USB plug, very easy to make
and maintain, and targeted towards the peoples in the counties that just
plain can't afford to buy a 'regular' pc, not even an XT or IIGS.

The Simputer (Indian i think) goes some way toward this, but it's still
a way off.
