Hi,
I recently purchased a Mac Modem cable and a null modem cable.Together, I've
connected COM1 on my PC to the modem port of the IIgs. I'm trying to get
started on getting ADTgs (trying to transfer the initial ADT binary file
over), but am having problems.
I have set both my PC and my IIgs to 300 baud & 8N1. On the IIgs, I type
IN#2 and it goes to the next ] prompt. On my PC, I have tried both "type
adtgs.dmp > com1" and using Hyperterminal to send the same file, but I get
absolutely nothing on the IIgs screen. I've tried the same think with the
IN#1 (setting the printer port to be a modem port), thinking the IIgs's
modem port was bad. Same result.
I have also tried the inverse - running PR#2 on the IIgs and Hyperterminal
on the PC. This gives me better results. For every keystroke I make on the
IIgs, I see garbage characters (they're actually special chars) in
Hyperterminal. If I do a LIST or CAT from the IIgs, I can tell that it is
sending garbage characters equal to each of those commands to my PC.
