5.25 isn't really phased out -- you can add a 5.25" drive to a modern
PC and it will work. I did just that about a year ago, in order to
transfer all my old 5.25" floppies to CD. One interesting tidbit:
the data transfer rate from a 5.25" floppy is quite noticeably faster
than from a 3.5" floppy.... apparently optimizing floppy disk data
traqnsfer rate was phased out on the PC too... :-(

...except at the very beginning of the PC, when CP/M-80 support
was absent (i.e. "cold turkey cut off"): different disk formats,
different CPU instruction set -- almost everything different.

Jobs was a visionary, not a practical man..... :-)
