What is more disturbing is that there are actually ISA software
modems too now.  I tried one of those $30 Winmodems and
promptly returned it.  Lots of hang-ups.  I now have an ISA
hardware modem in one computer and an external hardware
modem on another.  The external is the best performer.  Just
like back in the days of the IIGS - take a fast external modem,
plug in a hardware handshaking cable, and nothing internal
can beat it (talking about analog modems only).
