My dad actually got me my apple two about 12 years ago (~1989), when I
was 7. I didn't do much with in, unfortunately - I coded a few simple
games and applications in Applesoft Basic, but they weren't very
advanced - I had no programming experience before that. In fact, I'd
never seen a computer before that. As no-one I knew had a computer (esp.
a Apple ][), I was pretty much on my own, trying to figure out what to
do with it.

Then, in 1993, my dad bought a Pentium 60 and the Apple was religated to
the attic.

However, now I'm at university (doing a BSc in Computer Science &
Electronics) and I figure that a great way to learn about computer
design and low level programming would be to use my apple 2! I've done a
bit of 6502 machine code and assembler at high school (on BBC Micros),
so I don't think I'll have too much of a problem with my apple. The only
problem is that I'm not sure how to _really_ use it. Apart from
programming a bit in applesoft basic, I can't do much else - I didn't
even know that the monitor existed until I saw it mentiond a few days
ago (and now, these big apple ][ magazines/books that I have titled
"Call-A.P.P.L.E." make sense to me!) Hell, I can't even remember how to
save programs (is it just "save programname"? - don't answer that, I'll
look it up in my Apple ][ Reference manual).

Anyway, thanks again for helping me (re?)discover my apple ][ :)
