I have tried 4 times to reply to this, lets see if this one makes it:
To get an HD20 to work ANYWHERE in Apple II land I have tried.....
NOTE: I have not tried (nor if I had one WOULD I try) a Superdrive card:
A Liron Card, a Laser128, 128 EX, standard 5.25 card, a PCTransporter card's
disk input (I thought I might be able to format it FAT and use it as a DOS
disk. Tried before and after the transdrive. nope). Also tried the Floppy
port on a LC IIe card. Also various clone'ers 5.25 cards such as the Micro
SCI (I have the adapter cable). I have tried formatting the HD20 in ProDOS
via the floppy controller of a IIci or a IIsi then hooking it to IIe's and
IIGS's and to all the previously suggested cards/ machines. NONE of this
worked for me. As to the Vtech card, It is my understanding that it is the
exact same chipset as the floppy controller on a Laser 128 so it looks like
THAT one is out. I have read rumors that the reason the HD20 won't work is
that the actual track/sector of a 5.25 or 3.5 floppy is built on the board
of the controller and that the ONLY controller that might (and here I Stress
"might" because I personally don't have one and have not tired it) is:
...The earliest Liron card controller sometimes called the "Long Liron"...
I have read (and where now I do not remember) that this card did not have
the limitations in its firmare the other cards have. That is, this card had
a bug. This bug might be exploitable to thereby read an HD20 but my guess
here is a format of the HD20 on a Mac might be needed previous to trying
this.
If anyone else wants to give it a go, and is willing to swap something
juicy, I have a spare HD20 or 2 I am willing to part with.
pilgrimer at syndicom dot com will find me ;)

Kim Howe is right though: A SCSI card or the like is a better idea.
