You're supposing a single reply to a post. Imagine 30 replies,
and having to look for the 5th and its reply. Now, imagine the
same thread, but with mixed top/bottom posting and half of the
people quoting the full message while the other half cuts half
of the text at random and replies with "I second that, this sucks".
That's why we need some rules, and despite your 15-years
net experience telling you the contrary, the commonly accepted
order is original first, then reply.
