Re: Animate or fantavision?
Hi,
I seem to recall Fantavision came first but I may be wrong. The
simple reason I think Fantavision came first was because it was designed
for 64K apples (single hi-resolution graphics) while Animate was a double
hi-res product. The author of Animate, if I remember correctly, also
wrote Dazzle Draw, which preceded Animate. Double Hi-Resolutions
games/programs really did not come onto the market until maybe 1984/1985?
In any case, I never used these programs. However, I do remember
reviews of both. To sum up what I remember: Fantavision was an "easier"
program to use in that if you wanted show an ojbect transforming to
another object (say a circle to a square) , Fantavision would use a
technique called "tweening" and animate the transformation of the circle
to the sqaure. You just needed to make the start point and end point and
fantavision could fill the rest.
Animate was a more regular animation package. You had to draw
characters/objects and basically create each scene to acheive animation
(probably like how most cartoons were back in those days). Lots of work
involved!
So hope this helps ya!
