Most ordinary motherboards don't do this. There's a gadget called the PC
Weasel that adds this capability to any motherboard. Some server boards
support this capability out-of-the-box.

That's about as good as it gets. I used to zap files back and forth between
a IIe and a 286 at that speed, running ProTERM 3.0 on one end and DSZ (under
DR DOS 6) on the other.
