well for those still playing with this baby, I found the following
post in an apple emulation newsgroup; I tried it and it works like a
charm (getting you lots of money) - however instead of inserting a
'blank' character disk where it tell you to do, I put in a copy of my
char disk and I eneded up with some $400,000 - sweet - now if I can
just get the second drive going and learn how to drive the darn cars -
too touchy with an apple joystick - I might actually get going with
it...

- post showing the 'cheat' in autoduel

It had to do with switching player disks. Have two blank player disks
ready
at the start of the game - completely devoid of any player
information.

Start the game with one player disk, create a character, and go to the
factory
and buy the cheapest car you can. Take it over to the garage and put
it in
storage.

Now, go to take the car out of storage, but when you get the list of
cars you
can take out, switch player disks (putting in the one that has no
player
information) and choose the car. When you get back on the street,
switch
player disks again (putting in the first one) and sell the car for
salvage.
It might be missing a wheel and will have a weird name and other such
things,
so don't play around with it, sell it immediately, grab the cash, and
go buy
something worthy of an Autodueller.

The cash you get should keep you for the rest of the game if you play
right.
(I usually go directly to the garage after buying the new car and
taking
mechanic lessons until I'm comfortable at salvaging, sure it takes
time but
the arenas and packages can wait. And usually by that time the first
"They're
looking for you..." puzzles start, if you want to win that way it's a
nice way
to begin things.)
