Hi, Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm a Apple II newbie! I have a Apple
Hard Disk 20 (the Mac External Floppy Disk Drive Port HD, not the HD20SC - I
have one of those too). The HD20 is plugged to one of my Pluses. Recently I
was given a bunch of Apple IIGS stuff - mostly hardware - and I have this
setup IIGS rom v 03, 2mb ram, RGB monitor, (2) 3.5 & (2) 5.25 drives. The
HD20 has a DB19 male connector and the floppy port on the GS is a DB19
female, can I connect the HD20 to the GS?

Nope. There has never been any Apple II firmware or software support
for the HD20. (A possible exception might be the third-party Universal
Disk Controller card, but I don't recall hearing that it was supported.)

Thanks David, I thought that might be the case, bummer.

Try contacting a company called VTECH. It should be out of Vancouver BC in Canada. They produced a universal disk controller. I had one. It worked really well. They *may* still have some in stock. If not maybe you can convince them to release the schematics/plans into the public domain so a third party can continue development. If it can be adapted to the 1.4/1.6 Mb floppies as well then we may have another Superdrive controller.
