Bill,

those power supplies can often be fixed by replacing a couple of capacitors
inside the PSU assembly. check out Rubywand's FAQ at
http://home.swbell.net/rubywand/A2FAQs2CONTENT.html
If you are not confident at doing it yourself, take it to a friend who has
some soldering experience with a copy of the FAQ.
