Re: how to copy a disk with copy2plus
Thomas:
To copy a standard disk use the Manual Sector Copy in Copy II+.
Try copying them from drive 2 to drive 1. Sometimes the drives are not
well enough alligned to make disks that boot on other drives. So a disk
created on one drive may not boot on another. If this turns out to be
the case, you may need to get the second (or first) drive serviced or
replaced.
Another problem may be that you are trying to use HD (1.2M) instead of
DD floppy disks. Easiest way to ID these is their very dark color media
inside the disk sleeve. Compare a good disk to your 'blank' and see if
they are similar shades.
To make a bootable ProDOS disk, you need to format it, then copy the
PRODOS file to it. ProDOS automatically runs the first file in the
directory that ends in .SYSTEM and is of type SYS. So transfer the
BASIC.SYSTEM file over to get a basic prompt on boot. As stated in
another post, the PRODOS file may be named P8 if you get it form a GS/OS
boot disk and will need to be transferred and renamed.
Just FYI, when you start BASIC, it looks for and executes STARTUP of BAS
file type on start up and will give you the prompt if this file is not
found.
Thankx,
Ed
