For programming there are two (maybe three) languages you can access immediately. Applesoft BASIC, 6502 assembler, and maybe Integer BASIC. There are maybe a dozen other languages you can find from various sources. Some are free and some are commercial. A few are orphaned.

If there are enough requests I'll write an Applesoft tutorial and publish it in the magazine over the next few months. It would be too large to publish here. Besides access to the archives is free anyway. At least for a year at a time.

As to the other programs you mention, I seem to recall seeing programs similar to what you are after. More often than not they are in a game context. The hardest part is finding the programs and transferring them to your GS.
