I was just looking at the manual, there is no test mode.
I would suggest that your printer issues have to do with the printer
reaching it's margin and automatically dropping the line down. Try
resetting your word processor's margin so you print a character or two
less per line.
Hopefully someone else here has a idea how top get it to work properly
with AppleWorks 3.0.
