He probably meant that, given when these machines were released, the ][+
was okay but the IIe was crap.  Or, to look at it another way, the Apple
IIgs is a great machine but the iMac sucks.  In almost every respect the
PPC can run circles around the 65816, but the Quadra is a genuinely more
interesting (and sometimes more useful) machine.
