    On Golden II's (an Apple II Plus clone) the designers thought of
the same idea and put a Caps-Lock key where you'd normally find
the power light on a real Apple II. On late model machines, such as
the one I had, they went even a step further and gave it a third
function:

    1) It was a Caps-Lock key, 2) A power indicator and 3) A modifier
key, which when pressed with another key, macroed a popular 
command to screen. You couldn't create your own, but there were 
MANY Applesoft and DOS commands printed on the sides of keys.
So for example, Caps+Left arrow = "CATALOG" (I remember that
one best heh).
