 I  beleive that  that the Read/Write chip is bad or one that is in the
circuit.  These are sodered in unlike the Disk IIs. Clamping could be a
problem also. This would be with using  disks with no center hub (IBM HD
5.25s).  Since you have another  drive that reads the disks I doubt this
would be the problem.  The reason for the 0 to 300 is the sometimes the
information is not being read from the disk (during the speed check)
therfore zero speed  eve thought it is spinning. the 300 is the result
of improper speed and incorrect reading of data.
  Remember CopyII+ tells you to use a blank disk that so it can write to
it .
If you need another Platinum Drive  just ask Nice ones $5.00 plus
shipping  Yellowed ones $3. plus shipping form MI.
