Re: Super Serial trouble.

When you clean electronics, you need to use something that does NOT
leave a residue. Isopropenal has all sorts of ingredients that get left
behind. You do not want to use anyrthing that needs to be rinsed,
ever. (More or less.)

At work I use medical grade EthylAclohol, 98% pure, though sometimes it
wants mar plastic surfaces. At home I only use Everclear, 95% pure
grain alcohol. It doesn't have an issue with surfaces of any type. It
is inexpensive and easy to find. Everclear leaves no residue, it also
leaves no moisture. Althoguh I do on occasion use a can of air to blow
out any puddles that seem to last a bit more than a few seconds.

Beware of many other products that have impurities and eat plastics and
other things. (OK, I have used Cocacola to to clean battery terminals,
rinsed with water to neutralize the coke, then rinsed with Everclear to
remove the water.)

My two cents,
Ed

This is 7% Alcohol by vol, I don't know about the rest though, mostly water ? White Spirits leaves a residue as far as I know. I have also seen some techs use Acetone, but I would be very wary of that, as it can eat into the fibre glass resin.
