Yes you can. I did the same thing about 10 years ago. I had a problem where
the ribbon cable between the card and printer was radiating enough to cause
noise on the TV in another room. It didn't matter whether the printer was
turned on or not, only unplugging the cable would stop it. A proper shielded
cable fixed it.
